Being married to Ahmed Soliman, makes Microsoft products forbidden, we never use Windows  OS   :D

I’m using Linux since I got engaged to him, and day by day it became very familiar for me… and I learned how to manage my problems in it, through searching, or getting help from Ahmed all the time :)

I started with Suse, didn’t stay much with it and then moved to Fedora (that was years ago, and I wasn’t so much aware of what are distros. and what’s the different between or anything) .. I stuck to Fedora since then, and I always hear about other distros. and never cared to try any one else than my Fedora as I got used to it and almost have no complaints about it at all ..

Then, some distro. keep poping in front of me, hear about it, listen to people saying how easy and cool it’s.. till Ahmed installed it on the home pc, it’s Ubuntu.. and even though, I didn’t pay much attention or think to try it…

Till, more than a month ago, as I kept hear more and more about Ubuntu, I thought why not, lets give it a shot, and I DID

I installed it, and – according to Ahmed -  it didn’t show any troubles in configuring drivers and so on, though fedora took so much time before to do so -on my laptop- it even recognized the volume control button my laptop has, which never been recognized on fedora ever !!
then, so far so good, I started working with it, I may say, it’s a very easy operating system to deal with, easy to manage, install software, everything looks like a piece of cake, I was using gnome, and it was also my first time with it, cause with Fedora, I always used KDE, and to be fair , again I never cared for what I’m using before.

Working with Ubuntu wasn’t bad, but some strange problem started to show up it’s “KERNEL PANIC“, it happens suddenly, may be three or four times subsequently, and not happening for a whole week !!
No specific reason can tell exactly what’s its cause, but lately it started to get me soo mad, another thing was not so comforting for me, which was Gnome itself.

I didn’t like it, can’t say exactly why, cause really, I can’t tell exact reasons, just didn’t fall for it… and with time passing , I didn’t like Ubuntu either…

When I say this, I believe many of you will be astonished why, and how, Ubuntu is cool, may be it’s, but not for me I think :)
Ahmed himself couldn’t believe that I didn’t like it as indeed I can’t tell why…. it’s only there’s NO LOVE BETWEEN ME AND UBUNTU .

I made my mind up, and uninstalled Ubuntu then Installed the Fedora 10, with the lovely KDE 4.1 ….
To be very fair, Fedora – talla3et 3enena 7abeten - in configuring some drivers, and the updates and some other stuff, recently is the session in KDE 4.1 isn’t saved on log-out, which is obviously a bug , and it sucks actually but, whatever it does, it’s my lovely Fedora :)

I didn’t imagine that it would be a big deal for me what distro. to use, I got used to use what Ahmed is telling or installing, but now, I may say it loud, I LIKE FEDORA much much more than Ubuntu, and no matter how much problems I face with it, I’ll go for it.

Finally, Ta3eesh Fedora Ta3eesh :D

PS: Any installation , uninstallation or solving problems is done under supervision of Ahmed, or mostly done by Ahmed with me watching, and learning

Actually I’m a fan of fedora too – actually, old fedora -, one proof that I’m still using Fedora 8 till now :) , with KDE 3.5 :) . I didn’t like ubuntu, it’s the same feeling, especially because it uses GNOME and I’m KDE SUPER FAN – when it comes to KDE 3.5, I didn’t love 4.x -!

About the session thing, fi kde 3.x kan fi 7aga esmaha Control Center, they replaced it with another thing to manage system’s settings but I dun remember it’s name in kde 4.x, but what I think will be constant that it will have session management window “Session Manager” in 3.x, where you should mark “Restore my previous session” under the “On Login” settings, try searching for it. :)

There is also a great guide for Fedora latest distros (8,9 and 10) you will like it as it explains everything you might need for the system. :)

    Happy new year!

: It showed up to be a bug in the KDE 4 any way, but any way, the funny and unexplained thing, is that after doing so much search, and posting this post, THE SESSION IS BEING SAVED NOW :)
    and it’s working just fine…
    thanx for the guide

    well,

currently I use Fedora on my business laptop (company’s) but I still prefer ubuntu because it’s easier to manage and hassle-free.
and I became GNOME fan since KDE released version 4.0, and while people recommended that I should give 4.1 a try, I did and it was much better than KDE 4.0, but still suck.

Generally, GNOME is simpler and that’s exactly what I love about it, it’s simple, fast and extremely lighter than KDE and ubuntu has the biggest community base, which make finding solutions for your problems a lot easier.
